The Lighthouse of Alexandria was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was placed in the harbor of the city of Alexandria in Egypt. This city was named after the great general Alexander. The lighthouse was a tribute to the greatest city of the world at this time. The lighthouse does not stand there today. A major earthquake destroyed the lighthouse and it was never recovered.
