Why the Pharoahs were gods

Ancient Egyptians believed that the Pharoah was half man and half god. The Pharoah was the leader of the government and their religious structure. The reason why the Pharoah held this position goes deep into their religion.

The gods Geb and Nut were the masters of all in the living world. Geb was father sky and Nut was mother earth. They had four children; Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nethysus. Geb decided to retire and leave the world to his oldest son, Osiris. Osiris married his sister Isis. Many gods married within their families in many religions around the world. Seth was evil. He was jealous and wanted it all.

Osiris and Isis were deeply in love and enjoyed their positions as the king and queen of the earth. Seth at the same time was plotting the death of his older brother. Time and time again Osiris avoided the traps that Seth laid, until one time. Osiris was tricked to sail down the Nile river. At a stategic place that was narrow with reeds on both sides, Seth had alligators waiting for Osiris. Once Osiris was unable to move his boat anymore, the alligators attacked.

The alligators tore Osiris apart and killed him. Seth showed his appreciation to the alligator by killing each and every one. Then, he cut open their stomachs and took all the parts of Osiris and hid them all over the earth.

Isis was wondering where her husband has, and eventually she found out the truth. For hundreds of years, Isis searched the world find all of her husband's pieces to put him back together again. Before she finished the entire regeneration ritual, Isis took a bone from her husband and imprenated herself. She chose not to tell Osiris because she knew that he would not be as strong as he once was.

Isis was right, Osiris was weaker than before. Seth found this out too and just plain killed Osiris. He then threw all his body parts around the world again. Isis collected all the pieces again and tried to regenerate him again. Osiris urged his wife to let his stay in the underworld. The underworld was not evil, but rather where souls went to be judged.

Isis honored her husband's wishes. She turned her sights on raising her son, Horus. Horus was raised and trained in secret for two goals. The first goal was avenge the death of his father by killing Seth. The second goal was to be trained to be a great and just ruler of the world.

Seth found out about Horus and vice versa. The two gods fought numberous times, each time was an epic battle. An example of their battles was the battle in the Sahara desert. According to the Egyptians the fury and force of the two gods expanded the desert to it size today.
